Lincoln Tech Auto Program – Is It Worth It?

The other day I received the following email and I’d like to solicit some feedback from anyone who happens to stumble across this automotive blog:

Dear Ump,

I’m graduating high school this year and our school is already holding career days and college visits. I’ve always loved working on cars with my dad and even worked last summer at a local autobody shop restoring paint jobs and doing auto-body repair. A lot of the guys at the shop said they had gone to Lincoln Tech Auto (and one is actually still in classes) but I was wondering if that’s right for me? There’s a lot of pressure for me to go to a four year college so I want to be sure that Lincoln Technical Institute is really worth all the hype before I commit to it. Your thoughts?

40 Motorcycle Mechanic Institute students participate to give MDK/Media Zone/Warthog Racing a Record Breaking Season!!

MDK/MediaZone/Warthog Racing Academy knew that there were more than 10 deserving privateers that needed massive support to compete in the 2008 Supercross series so a lofty goal was set to help TWENTY FIVE riders during the series.

The team not only met that goal but exceeded it, ending up with 26 riders total, comprising 21 men and 5 WMA women.

“And probably most helpful to the team was the support provided by the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Internship program. MMI provided over 40 skilled technicians that helped with everything, including pit setup and tear down as well as servicing more race bike than you can shake a stick at. Well done MMI!!”

A cousin of mine recently enrolled in Arizona Automotive Institute in Glendale, AZ for their Automotive Technology program and I couldn’t help but laugh. Mostly because my cousin reminds me of the guy in this video:

My best advice cuz: Don’t become the stereotypical auto-mechanic trained to dupe the customers. I’m sure there’s a way you can learn to fix cars without flying the “elite automotive technician” flag of power!

So i was browsing the web and came across this post about a cool car on Mechanic Schools Directory.

It’s called the Carver by Venture Vehicles. I guess it’s made in Belgium or somewhere..Anyway, it’s pretty rad check it out:

I guess it will be available in 2009 and has a top speed of 120mph!! hell yeah!! Starting price around $22k. I’m gonna have to pick one of these bad boys up!!

Arizona Automotive Institute in Glendale Arizona seems like a pretty good mechanic school. Has anyone gone? I’ve been pondering a mechanic school like Arizona Automotive Institute, but i’m not sure what’s a good one. I’m looking for flexible schedule (evenings or mornings), good instructors, good labs, modern technology, and the ability to train with specific manufacturers. Any ideas?
